As I’ve mentioned in earlier posts, losing and looking for a job brings with it negative emotional patterns which can impede moving forward. It helps to understand the stages most people go through when faced with this situation. It helps to eat well, get enough sleep, and exercise.
If feelings of anxiety and depression seem overwhelming, it may be time to consider a therapist and/or a coach. They bring different talents and experience to the situation. A therapist can help a person identify and discus their charged emotions. A coach can provide practical information, support and strategies to work through challenges that face the job seeker in her quest to find fulfilling work. I’m not a therapist but I do know a number of qualified therapists whose work I trust. As a chaplain and a coach, I have helped many people realize their career ambitions.
