To secure “good work” we need to employ self-exploration. Self-exploration is not self-indulgence. Self-exploration, when done with courage and compassion, can help us touch our own uniqueness, our own worth, and make explicit what is holding us back from the success each of us deserves. Self-exploration is our gift to ourselves.
Perhaps the most important question we could ask ourselves is, “What would my life and career look like if I knew I could not fail?” How we approach this question will tell us much about how we see ourselves and life itself. The beloved poet Mary Oliver put it this way “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”
