I have mixed feelings about resumes. On one hand, everyone must have one, and a good one is a great accomplishment. On the other, it’s not the most important factor in securing that coveted new job.
Let me be clear. I’m fairly good at evaluating a resume; God knows I’ve seen enough of them. But I don’t write them. I can refer clients to people who do write them.
At this point, I want to mention the work of Jenny Foss, (www.jobjenny.com ). Jenny and her associates are crazy good writers. They have written terrific “how-to manuals.” I particularly like their resume manual; it is a valuable guide for the job-seeking professional as well as the millennial seeking their first job. The manual is available as a download for $39.00. I’ve seen others charging $200+ that aren’t worth buying. It doesn’t hurt that Jenny is as funny as she is competent.
Do yourself a favor and check out her site. You’ll be glad you did.
