You have your job, but you’re not sure how long you will have it. Rumors are running rampant throughout your company. You and your co-workers are worried and filled with uncertainty. What should you do?
Be proactive. Schedule a meeting with your immediate supervisor as well as the HR Department to determine where you stand with your present organization. Ask them to be honest and forthright with you. Many progressive company leaders are scheduling meetings to keep their employees informed about how the economy is impacting their businesses. However, many are not. In any case, you need to find out what your status is with your company. Your supervisor and the HR Department may not be able to give you a definitive answer, but you will at least have the satisfaction that you now know as much as they do. You won’t be held captive by rumors any longer.
