Personal Marketing Continued

The goal of the diligent job seeker is to get in front of the person with power to hire her. The best approach is to become proficient at personal marketing. You are creating your own brand to put before a hiring manager.

It’s said that everyone knows at least 250 people. Whether that is literally true, most folks have an extensive list of friends, relatives, and people with whom you have a business relationship such as your insurance agent, your PCP, and the person who has sold you your car. Think of your email data base as your network.

Your tools for connecting and expanding your base include:

  • Face-to face conversations and information interviews
  • Email
  • Your Facebook and LinkedIn pages, and
  • Skype

The more you can master these tools, the greater potential success you will have landing the right position with the right organization.
